What is the Spider-Society
The Spider-Society is the multiverse’s standing body of spider-heroes: the larger organization the various Spider-Verse teams belong to, drawn from spiders across many realities. Where the Web Warriors are a small field team, the Society is the broader institution behind them, and it emerged from the same post-Spider-Verse era beginning in 2015.
Most readers know the name from outside the comics. The 2023 animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse built its plot around a sprawling Spider-Society led by Miguel O’Hara, which brought the concept to a far wider audience than the page ever had. The film’s version is its own take, but the idea, a multiverse-spanning society of spiders, runs straight back to the Spider-Verse comics.
Notable issues
- Web Warriors #1 (2015): the post-Spider-Verse era where the organization of multiversal spiders takes shape.
For collectors
The Spider-Society is a concept spread across the Spider-Verse era rather than a single-issue debut, so collector value concentrates in the character first appearances of that era (Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man 2099 in his modern role) rather than a team key.
